SnapMotion : Easily extract images from video App Reviews

SnapMotion does its job

Overcomes the problem that Quicktime7 exports .pct, which can’t be opened by Photoshop any more. Does take a little time to load source videos, but is simple to use, and the batch processing works great. You can select a bunch of pictures from a bunch of different videos and grab them all at once. Capturing can be automatic (every so many seconds/frames) or manually. Files are numbered by time - either seconds or HH:MM:SS:MS. You can set output file as .jpeg or .png and they come out in the video’s native resolution. Nice extras are that you can add a watermark and save settings for re-use later. Big problem solver.

Meh

Cluncky interface. Modest flexibilty in usability. It would be nice to be able to set in and out points for a series of pics.

Crash all the time

Well.. good luck. I export one frame from a batch of 25 clips everyone from 6 to 30 seconds long.. common codec and format The results is countless crashes and instead of proper images i have many black frames… very frustrating..

Great app for the money

Very pleased, does everything I expected plus a lot more. Very nice to be able to just set the controls to take pictures every second, Every three seconds, or what ever amount of time you want to program it for all the way down to .1 second. I am in event videographer and this makes A nice optional add-on once you have the edited master. The only negative thing that I would have to say is the help menu leaves a lot to be desired. But if you play around with it for a while you should be able to figure out most things.

Very easy to use.

This is one of the easiest apps I have ever used. The ability to scroll through larve video files in small steps is poor but the ease with which it extracts excellent quality photos is superb. A fantastic value.

great!

it’s a great app. this is the first review i’ve ever written!

batch processing of 4k video crashes often

Individual files work fine, but it crashes when doing batch operations all the time.

Dissapointing

Just trying to export 1 image to .jpg….crashes everytime. This should be very simple…too bad. I should say that it’s in Manual mode and trying to resize and export 1 picture. The com.apple.appkit.xpc.openAndSavePanel crashes as well.

KISS is best here

Keep is Simple is what I wanted here, and this app really came through for me. All I wanted was an app that could take a really good still frame from my video and it does just that. Just one purpose, and good results. I use simple editing software for movie creation, but needed this functionality. For less than 5 bucks I have what I want. All there is to say!

SnapMotion

This is a very nice app, easy to use!…..However, today it seems to be misbehaving…….it goes along fine until I save the captured snap………..it seems to save it, but the saved snap is nowhere to be found……..I dont know if this is caused by something else, or the app itself. Its worked perfectly un until today. I deleted it from the computer, re loaded it from the app store,,,will try again. Tnx. Update- I just tried it with the new download……..Works perfectly, and the updates are great, must better!! I dont know what made it go goofy, but I did some house-keeping on my HD, thats probably what caused the problem. Tnx again! 4/2015 Working GREAT! Love it! 6 Stars!

Excellent unique app!

I’ve used this app several times on projects where it would otherwise have been difficult or impossible to do the same thing some other way. Very easy to use with excellent results, a bargain at $3.99.

Great app!!

Found this app after a few failures with others and couldn’t be happier. For what I’m working on I specifically needed JPEGs as screen grabs won’t cut it due to the poor res. Unless I’m missing something, I’ve got exactly what I need to meet the criteria. I saw a prior review stating video load time was long. I find it takes about 3 seconds and it’s there and ready to go. Perfect to me. No complaints there. The app has stopped on two occasions. For $3.99 it’s still not too much of a headache to quit — sometimes force quit — then pull it back up in a second. And go again. Love it.

Works great

I’m constantly creating thumbnails for videos I post to portfolio sites and this app makes it quick and painless.

intuitive, practical & affordable

I was initially skeptical because of the price, but it works great, does exactly what I want, snapping multiple shots from video. I didn’t read the instructions, tutorial or anything, played around for 5 minutes and did a few test runs and it does what and how I want.

Not what I was expecting but it’s OK

I purchased this to batch convert videos for an art project. It is not very userfriendly on how to start the conversion or where the conversion is in the process. I was expecting the batch process feature to look like the app’s website’s screenshots, and it was not. I had to open the export folder to see where the app was at… and it wasn’t clear when it was moving onto another clip or how to pause it. Actualy, as of this writing, it was re-doing the same clip. There is no help file or faq or instructions, which made this maddening! Other than that, I really like how quick this extracted frames, and that you can really fine tune settings. Sorry to give it just 1 star - but instructions and a better interface are needed.

Keeps Freezing

Keeps freezing, cannot get passed the page to open file, before computer asks me to quit frozen program. Would like a refund.
